ROLE SUMMARY
Pharmaceutical Sciences Small Molecules (PSSM) develops the active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and the formulations & manufacturing processes needed to transform laboratory candidates into potential new drugs. PSSM is Making Today’s Discoveries Tomorrow’s Medicines.
As a member of the Data Sciences Drug Product Statistics group, you will support a variety of development projects advancing chemical entities to the market. You will work within research and development project teams to advise on experimental design strategies, execute data analyses and provide both oral and written clear communicate of results to the team. These activities ensure the safety, efficacy, and marketability of pharmaceutical products. Through your knowledge of principles, concepts, and theories of the discipline, you will also work towards advancing new concepts and methodologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- As an integral part of project teams, you will collaborate with the science and technology lines within Pharmaceutical Sciences supporting drug product manufacturing processes, analytical method development and regulatory activities.
- Demonstrate initiative to solve problems in pharmaceutical research by influencing collaborators and improving methods and workflows while ensuring sound statistical thinking, techniques, and predictive models are employed.
- Display excellent communication skills and the ability to convey results clearly and concisely to the project team to aid the decision-making process. Use statistical and business acumen to prepare both internal and external reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Ensure that all statistical activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and company standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- MSc in Statistics or related field, typically candidates have at least two years’ statistical consulting experience, or a PhD in Statistics or related field with some demonstrated statistical consulting experience.
- Statistical knowledge through coursework and/or demonstrated statistical applications in descriptive, inferential statistics, and applied linear models, e.g., experimental designs and regression models. Experience may include one or more of the following: linear and/or non-linear mixed models, multivariate methods, or quality control methods.
- Sound computational skills: R, SAS, S+, Minitab, or equivalent
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills in explaining complex statistics to the non-statistician in the context of experimental objectives.
- Good team player with demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships within and across sites with customers and partners.
- The aptitude to identify and understand relevant scientific literature and apply knowledge gained from these sources.
